The Black Pearl Vehicle Control & Power Distribution Board was originally developed to support Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) operations by providing a compact, ruggedized interface between vehicle control systems, onboard computers, communications equipment, and external payloads. The platform has since evolved into a versatile control module suitable for UAS, UGV, maritime, and fixed-site applications requiring reliable power switching, remote control, and embedded system integration.
At the core of the system is a dedicated PIC microcontroller that provides autonomous control of dual high-current load switch outputs while maintaining compatibility with flight controllers, mission computers, and Raspberry Pi-based systems. Multiple operating modes allow the board to function as a standalone payload controller or as part of a larger autonomous system.
The Black Pearl integrates dual programmable load switches, cellular modem support, Raspberry Pi connectivity, user interface controls, RGB status indicators, and multiple communication interfaces into a compact platform capable of controlling external devices such as lights, radios, sensors, payload release mechanisms, pumps, relays, and mission equipment.
Whether deployed aboard a USV, integrated into a UAS payload system, or used within a UGV control architecture, Black Pearl provides a flexible hardware foundation for mission-specific solutions.
